Organizations succeed through the performance of their people. Hiring the right people is the most important thing you can do for your business. Once you find them, how do you engage them and retain them?

It starts with how you welcome employees into your organization. Most new hires will decide in the first 30 days if they will stay with the company. If they decide to leave, they will likely be gone within six months. A successful orientation and onboarding process can influence their decision to stay or leave. Opportunities for continuous learning and development, career pathways, and succession planning are an investment in their future and the company’s as well.

This session will provide a focused exploration of four key areas essential to business success. We will talk in real time about challenges and opportunities and share ideas and resources for effective HR action.

    Discussion Outline:

    • Recruitment: Review of the 5 key steps of the hiring process

o Evaluate your process, applicant perspectives & data analytics
    o Building talent pipelines

    • Engagement: Begins during the hiring process

    o Orientation – an event
    o Onboarding – a process

    • Retention: Assess what is working/what is not

    o Check-ins
    o Mentoring

    • Upskilling: Workforce development

o The benefit of career pathways
    o Internal vs. external resources

    • Conclusion: Next Steps

o Identify your top priorities & realistic goals
o Get started – time management

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Participants will share their perspectives and priorities for the identified four key areas.
    2. Participants will learn about methods to address specific challenges and exchange ideas and solutions.
    3. Participants will receive a packet of useful resource materials, tips, and checklists.
