North Star SHRM will be hosting a virtual education session titled:

OSHA 300 Logs, Accident Reporting, & Near Miss Reporting Assistance

    by Justin Wilkins, AssetHR

This is a virtual presentation via Zoom on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. All North Star SHRM members are invited to attend. There is no cost to attend.

The OSHA 300 and 301 logs are essential record-keeping tools for tracking workplace injuries and illnesses. The OSHA 300 log is a summary of all recordable workplace incidents, detailing the nature of the injury, affected body part, and outcome. The OSHA 301 form provides a more detailed account of each specific incident, including how and why it occurred. Proper maintenance of these logs is crucial for compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as for identifying trends that can improve workplace safety. Auditing these records regularly ensures accuracy and helps prevent penalties, while timely and thorough accidents and near-miss reporting play a key role in mitigating future risks.

Our discussion will cover the importance of maintaining accurate OSHA logs, understanding due dates, and conducting effective audits to ensure compliance. We will discuss best practices for reporting accidents and near misses, emphasizing how proactive reporting can prevent serious injuries. Additionally, we will highlight common pitfalls businesses face and provide strategies to streamline record-keeping processes. By the end of the discussion, attendees will have a clear understanding of how to properly manage OSHA 300 and 301 logs and create a safer work environment.
