North Star SHRM will be hosting a virtual seminar titled: Internal Investigations.
This is a virtual presentation via Zoom on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. All North Star SHRM members are invited to attend. There is no cost to attend for North Star SHRM members.
This presentation will provide attendees with a framework to conduct internal investigations including credibility determinations, managing the interview process, and tips on writing effective investigative reports. Attendees will learn the special traits of investigations in the public sector vs. private sector, learn to recognize ethical dilemmas and liability issues, and the process of witness communications.

Justin L. Terch, SPHR, MA, MBA Managing Consultant Terch & Associates Consulting LLC
Justin L. Terch MA, MBA, SPHR is the Managing Partner of Terch & Associates LLC, a leading provider of workplace solutions in Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin. He is located in Duluth Minnesota.
Justin has held the role of Human Resources Director for numerous organizations. He has earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from the HR Certification Institute. He completed his undergraduate education in Legal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and his graduate education in Business and Management at The College of St. Scholastica. He is a graduate of the Human Resources Legal Compliance Certification program at Mitchell-Hamline School of Law.
Justin has worked with public, private, and non-profit organizations in the areas of employment law compliance; recruitment and executive search; labor-management relations; employee relations and internal investigations; and conflict resolution. He is licensed by the Minnesota Board of Private Detectives & Protective Agents and by the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services.
Justin is regularly contracted to help organizations diagnose and manage complex problems. He is a frequent presenter and writer on topics affecting the workplace and is noted for his direct communication style and ability to listen with care.
From 2011 until 2021, Justin was a Senior Lecturer teaching in the Human Resources and the Mediation-Conflict Resolution programs at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He has previously served as a mediator for 7 years with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, resolving claims of employment discrimination and is the Director of Legislative Affairs for MN SHRM since 2020.
