When do we know it’s time to seek help for a mental illness? What resources are available? And what are the questions we still need to ask?

In this session, we will briefly explore the four factors clinical psychologists will consider when making decisions regarding mental health and mental illness. We will discuss resources available in MNSHRM and how to recommend someone can locate help. We will also discuss topics and questions germane to participants in attendance and the season we are currently living in.

This presentation will be given by Dr. Melissa Baartman Mork, a Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology, Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. Her doctorate is in Clinical and Forensic Psychology.

    3-4 learning objectives

    In this session, participants will

    1. Learn the four “D’s” for mental illness that clinical psychologists consider when deciding when an illness is significant enough for diagnosis.
    2. Receive resources and suggestions for locating services for mental health concerns.
    3. Formulate questions and explore responses and solutions in the area of mental health.
