The target audience for this seminar is HR professionals and small business owners. The purpose of the class is to identify methods to minimize an employer’s monetary exposure as a result of work-related injuries. This includes identifying the steps that should be taken by an employer once the employee reports an injury and creating forms to document the information needed to defend the claim, in light of the fact that the case may not proceed to hearing for many months or even many years.
The class will also address the various risks an employer has directly taken that are not covered by the workers’ compensation insurance policy, including penalties for which employers are liable and actions pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 176.82. Learning objectives are:
- To identify what documentation is necessary for the defense of a workers’ compensation claim.
- To identify workers’ compensation professionals involved in the post-injury process and the impact those people have on the case exposure.
- To determine the exposure an employer has that is not covered by the workers’ compensation insurance policy.
This seminar will be presented by Nicole Surges.
