North Star SHRM will be hosting a seminar titled: Walking The Talk – Managing Company Culture.  It will be held at the Minnesota School of Business (11500 193rd Avenue, Elk River) on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 8 am to 9:30 am. All North Star SHRM members are invited to attend.  In addition, all Elk River and I-94 West Chamber members, and Minnesota School of Business students are invited to attend.  There is no cost to attend.

The target audience for this seminar is HR professionals and any small business owners.  Every business has a culture.  It’s what you do with that culture that matters.  Your company’s culture affects your productivity, your ability to retain customers and employees and your future business prospects.  Is your culture well-defined, or is it a blend of many ideas from the top?  Do key leaders promote the company’s culture or reward behaviors that detract from the culture?  Can your employees define in a few sentences your company’s culture, and are those answers consistent?
All businesses struggle with ensuring their actions match their words.  It is not enough to say:  This is our culture.  Like a garden, you must tend to your culture for it to grow.  If your company is struggling with managing your culture, or even identifying what your culture is, please join us.  We’ll offer tips on how to define your culture and create support for your key culture objectives, throughout your organization.  This seminar will be presented in a discussion format.  Your questions are welcome.

    Learning objectives are:
    •    What is a company’s culture?
    •    How to assess your company’s culture.
    •    Strategies for re-defining your company culture or building upon that culture.
    •    How to hold leadership and employees accountable for your company culture.
    •    How attention to your company’s culture can be a competitive advantage in your business.

This seminar will be presented by Katheryn A. Gettman, Attorney.
