    This session provides a practical review of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) and its potential implications for employers and HR professionals. Designed to move beyond high-level legislative summaries, the discussion will focus on how the bill may affect business operations, workforce management, and employee compensation. Participants will gain clarity on key provisions, particularly those related to tipped wages and overtime—and will leave with actionable guidance to help their organizations prepare for implementation, compliance, and communication with employees.

    Speaker Bios:

    Mary Simmons serves as the Vice President of HR Compliance at Asure Software, a prominent national Human Capital Management provider listed on the stock exchange. With over three decades of dedicated experience in HR, Mary leads a team of more than 30 HR Consultants, delivering comprehensive HR services across the country. Previously, she held the role of Director of HR Consulting at a prestigious firm with a rich history spanning six decades.

    Mary holds esteemed HR certifications from both SHRM and HRCI, complemented by her role as a Disc Certified trainer. She collaborates closely with organizations nationwide, specializing in fostering growth, ensuring legal compliance, and safeguarding against litigation risks under local, state, and federal employment laws. Mary's expertise extends to maximizing employee productivity and engagement, pivotal for driving organizational success.

    In addition to her corporate leadership, Mary enriches the academic community as an adjunct professor at New York Institute of Technology, where she oversees the SHRM HR Certification program. She has also instructed corporate education courses at Farmingdale University, further enhancing her reputation as an influential educator and mentor.

    A sought-after speaker, Mary, frequently addresses conferences, networking groups, and organizations on critical HR topics such as policy development, compliance strategies, and enhancing employee engagement. She serves as the co-chair of the Long Island HR group, founded and chairs the Women’s Innovative Networking group, and contributes to the Long Island board of Ellevate, a prominent national women’s networking organization.

    Mike’s career spans hands-on experience selling and implementing payroll, HR, time and labor, and benefits solutions; founding and scaling a nationally recognized marketing agency focused on the HCM industry; and serving on executive teams and advisory boards for high-growth small businesses. This multifaceted background enables him to see workforce challenges through the eyes of both the employer and the technologist, giving him a rare, practical perspective on what drives employer success.
